Introduction

This is a different sort of grant than we have used in the past.  Because growing participation in our primaries is so important, and it is hard to build interest in a primary without local candidates, we want to incentivize people to run for county level offices.  Therefore we are offering reimbursement grants to candidates for county level office to pay the filing fees  to get on the ballot for the 2024 Democratic Primary.

Who is Eligible?

​

The following county level offices are eligible to be funded in any rural county in Texas. 

​

• County Judge

• County Attorney

• County Commissioner

• County Treasurer

• County Tax Assessor/Collector

• County Surveyor

• County Clerk

• Justice of the Peace

• Constable

Rural is defined as any county that has a population of less than 500 people per square mile.

Application Process

Applications are open and are being accepted.  The deadline for applications is December 1, 2024.  Applications will be considered on a rolling basis during that period.  ​Applications must be submitted by our Online Application.  Applications sent in by email, text, fax or hardcopy mail or overnight will not be considered.

Purpose

This grant is intended to encourage rural candidates to run in the Democratic Primary for county level office. Our aim is  to incentivize and encourage people to run for office in heavily Republican counties.

Criteria

A candidate for a county level office in a rural county is eligible to apply if your county voted Republican by 65% or greater in the last general election.

Terms and Conditions

Grants awarded are for reimbursement of filing fees only. If an applicant is awarded a grant, they will be notified by email with additional instructions.  All awards are tentative and subject to the candidate paying the filing fee and submitting their receipt for that payment to The 134 PAC.  After receipt, The 134 PAC will reimburse the candidate's campaign for the filing fee.  The decision of The 134 PAC in awarding grants  is final. All applicants will be notified in writing whether their application has been granted or denied.

A grant award does not create any contract or property rights or any sort of contract for payment of an award between an applicant and The 134 PAC, The 134 PAC LLC or any of their members, officers, advisory board members, employees agents, or volunteers. Up until payment has been made and received by the applicant, the PAC reserves the exclusive right within its discretion to postpone or withdraw support or payment for any reason.  Awarding of grants and the amount of grants that can be awarded is dependent on available funding and is in the sole discretion of The 134 PAC.
