From our co-hosted happy hour to our convention booth and rural leadership panel, here's where you can find us throughout the weekend.
The Texas Democratic Party Convention is almost here, and The 134 PAC is excited to be part of an incredible weekend dedicated to organizing, connecting, and strengthening Democratic communities across Texas. Whether you're a county chair, precinct chair, candidate, activist, volunteer, or simply passionate about the future of rural Texas, we invite you to stop by, say hello, and join us throughout the convention.
Thursday – Kick Off the Convention
The 134 PAC is proud to co-sponsor the "We Are the Blue Wave" Happy Hour, hosted by Nancy Thompson Founder of Mothers Agaist Greg Abbott. This event is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and celebrate the beginning of an exciting convention weekend. We hope you'll join us for an evening of conversation, networking, and fellowship.
Friday & Saturday – Visit The 134 PAC Booth
Throughout the convention, The 134 PAC will have a booth in the Exhibit Hall where we'll be highlighting the work happening in rural Texas. Our booth will feature rural Democratic candidates, local leaders, and organizers from across the state. Throughout the weekend, attendees will have opportunities to meet candidates, ask questions, learn about their campaigns, and discover ways to become involved in strengthening Democratic organizations in rural communities. Whether you're looking to volunteer, connect with rural organizers, or simply learn more about our mission, we'd love to visit with you.
Friday – Rural Texas Panel Discussion
Friday, 11:45 AM–12:45 PM Room 227
One of the highlights of the weekend will be a panel discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges facing rural Texas. The panel will be moderated by Karen Wilkerson, Chair of the Texas Rural Democratic Caucus, and will feature a diverse group of leaders representing different perspectives on rural organizing and leadership:
Nicole Mason-Driver — Mayor of Malakoff, community advocate, and grassroots leader.
Reagan Stone — Alpine City Council Member, communicator, and organizer.
Riley Rodriguez — Congressional candidate bringing firsthand campaign experience from rural Texas.
Carla Schoonover Porter — Co-Founder and County Services Director of The 134 PAC, former Palo Pinto County Democratic Party Chair, and longtime advocate for strengthening rural Democratic organizations.
Together, the panel will discuss topics including:
Building relationships within rural communities
Strengthening county party organizations
Recruiting and supporting candidates
Effective grassroots organizing
Lessons learned from serving and campaigning in rural Texas
What long-term success looks like in rural organizing
We Hope to See You There
The Texas Democratic Party Convention is about more than meetings and resolutions; it's about building relationships that last long after the convention ends.
At The 134 PAC, we believe the future of rural Texas depends on local leadership, strong communities, and people willing to show up, listen, and work together.
If you're attending the convention, please stop by our booth, attend the panel discussion, and introduce yourself. We'd love to meet you and talk about the future of rural Texas.
See you in Corpus Christi!
