What Now?

Dear Rural Texas Democratic Party Chairs,

As we reflect on the recent election results, it’s very clear that our journey has been challenging. The 2024 election has shown us that Democrats are falling behind in many areas. We are seeing resignations from our Party Leaders at the County and State levels. IF you are thinking about walking away...Please give me two minutes of your time.

Tom Nichols, in his recent article in The Atlantic, described Trump’s victory as “a grim day for the United States and for democracies around the world.” Yet, he also reminded us that in times like these, we must “dust ourselves off, square our shoulders, and get to work.” Democracy lives in the people, and it is our collective effort that will shape the future of our communities. We must hold together our communities and friendships, for they are the bedrock of our strength.

Our rural communities are the heart and soul of Texas. They embody the values of hard work, perseverance, and community spirit. It is these values that we must harness to rebuild our rural communities. I urge you to stay committed to our cause. Your leadership and dedication are crucial in this effort, more now than ever!

Thank you for your unwavering commitment and hard work. Let’s move forward with hope and determination. Please STAY...Because WE have work to do.

The 134 PAC is committed to supporting our Rural communities, friends, and causes. We are working hard to formulate a plan on how to navigate a way forward and will share more in the coming days.

Sincerely,

A Very Concerned County Democratic Party Chair

Carla Schoonover-Porter

We were unable to get approved Ads to run locally in the paper and on the radio. I offered to fund the adds as the local D party is underfunded. This may be prevalent in smaller Countys

In Dublin, TX, and very disappointed that enthusiasm for Harris did not translate to local wins, but otherwise we knew this was likely to continue to be a red state. My idea is to focus on local concerns, and at an opportunity ask what local state representatives are doing about it?--and we may be able to point to a plank in the 2024 Democratic platform to say ours is the party with ideas for that.

Kerr County is standing our ground. In 2025 our focus is to "Find Local Candidates and Address Local Issues".
